Dr Guy Gosselin, PhD DC is the principal back doctor at the East Yorkshire Back Clinics. Although active in academia, he has maintained a highly successful multidisciplinary practice in Canada since qualification in 1981 from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in the USA.

Until August 2004, Guy was Senior Lecturer of Biomechanics at AECC University College. He was Sessional Lecturer in Applied Biomechanics and Chiropractic Technique at the Université du Québec, in Canada from 1993 to 1997. Dr Gosselin holds a PhD in Medical Engineering  and was an Honorary Research Associate at the School of Engineering of Hull University.

Concomitantly to his clinical, consulting and academic work, he  has been from 2002 to 2004 a member of the Clinical Biomechanics Group at the Southampton University General Hospital Medical Physics and Bioengineering Department.

Fellow- The Royal College of Chiropractors

Dr Gosselin  is a Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractors (UK), and Fellow of the European Academy of Chiropractic. Dr Gosselin specialises in short-term and evidence-based protocols in the treatment of the neck and low back complaints. He has been recognised for his publications/research associated with whiplash related injuries and also for his research into the effects of driving motor vehicles on the driver’s functional capacities.

The PPP Foundation awarded him a £91660 grant to investigate Cervical functional parameters in subjects submitted to cervical fatigue and subjects that have suffered a whiplash Injury. The two-year project ending in September 2004 was hosted by the Southampton University General Hospital.

Additionally, he was the first Chairperson for the College of Chiropractic Sports Science (Europe) from 2010 to 2012, and he has been a member of the Research Commission, Fédération Internationale de Chiropratique Sportive from 2011 to 2019.

On a personal note…

Outside of the clinics Guy enjoys, mountaineering, rock climbing, polo, playing the drums with friends in their blues band Fishy Waters and the Ridgemen, photography, computer gaming, research, travelling, salsa dancing and working out. Over the years he has also been an alpine and nordic ski instructor and swimming instructor, Canadian Royal Life Saving Society lifeguard, holds a black belt in karate, and has enjoyed hang gliding, gliding and kite surfing. He has competed internationally in karate and long distance canoe racing.
