An initial consultation is £125. This includes your full case history, a physical examination and, where it's appropriate and safe, treatment on the same day. Follow-up visits are £45.

Specialist-level care. In the same way that a consultant offers a more specialised assessment than a GP, East Yorkshire Back Clinic focuses specifically on back, neck and spinal problems, including complex and long-standing cases.

You're seen by Dr Gosselin, who holds a PhD in Medical Engineering and a Fellowship of the European Academy of Chiropractic, and brings more than 40 years of clinical, academic and research experience in biomechanics and spinal function. The consultation itself usually lasts around 30 minutes. Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete a physical examination form, our data protection policy and informed consent documentation.

Often, yes. If treatment is indicated and it's safe to proceed, straightforward cases can be treated at the first appointment, so you don't have to wait for a second visit to get started. Some patients are first given simple “homework”, such as ice application or specific exercises, before treatment begins.

No. If your case needs further investigation, we can write to your GP, arrange a private appointment with a consultant, or refer you for an MRI scan.

It depends on your condition, how long you've had it and how you respond, so there isn't a fixed number. Our approach is short-term and targeted: focused plans designed to help you improve, recover and move forward, not to keep you coming back forever. Your progress is reviewed at every visit.

Your safety comes first. If our care isn't suitable for your condition, Dr Gosselin will explain why and refer you on to your GP or an appropriate specialist.

Many of our patients come to us after years of treatment elsewhere. Dr Gosselin's background in medical engineering, biomechanics and spinal research means he's well placed to take a fresh look at complex or long-standing problems. A thorough assessment will show whether we're likely to be able to help, and if we're not the right option, we'll tell you.

Some headaches originate in the neck (known as cervicogenic headaches). Your assessment will look at whether your headaches appear to have a neck-related component and whether treatment is likely to be appropriate. If your symptoms suggest another cause, we'll advise you to see your GP.
